Wireless Electrical implants restore walking in paralysed patients.

A Recent study will, without doubt, overturn existing beliefs about certain paralysis types.


The technology is several years in the making, with initial positive results in monkeys. It works by implanting a Neuroprosthesis into the spinal cord to bypass the site of injury by artificially stimulating remaining nerves.


It has been tested on three patient with chronic paraplegia, who were able to walk over ground thanks to the precise electrical stimulation of their spinal cords via a wireless implant.
